Southern California History Events Calendar

ImageTo better keep track of all that's going on in this town that I, or someone who shares my peculiar proclivities, might want to attend I built an online calendar of historical dance, costume oriented and historical education events.

The next 20 events in the queue are listed, along with how many days it will be until they happen, on the right of this page. The full calendar, laid out in a calendar-like format can be reached by clicking the "Calendar" link at the top of any page on this website.

This calendar tracks things like vintage dance balls (Regency, Victorian, Ragtime, Jazz Age), historical re-enactments; costume or social history lectures; costume picnics etc.

It is maintained by me (Walter Nelson) and a small cadre of devoted folk with interests in specific areas.

I don't exclude Swing or later styles ('50s, '60s etc.) but I'm not really connected enough to these scenes to keep up with them. If someone wants to volunteer to help with these, they too can be included.

Your Event Here
If you want your event included, you could send me an email. Be sure to include a website or email or phone number for "more information". If you don't, your customers will contact me for information I don't have and that makes be grumpy.

You could also ask me to set you up as a contributor.

The Mailing List
Roughly once a week, I extract a few weeks worth of these events and paste them into an e-mail along with any events it strikes my fancy to highlight.

To sign up for these emails, look to the bottom left of this page - the box labeled "So Cal History Events Mailing List". Enter your email, select "Subscribe" and click "Submit".

I hope this service is of use you. I particularly hope that it will allow "start up" events, without a large initial following, to get the word out to thousands of people who have a higher probability of being interested than some random selection.

When new ideas can develop and grow, then this odd little community of ours can continue to thrive.
