Pancho Barnes: Legendary Aviatrix
September 11, 2010
Cal State University, Dominguez Hills (1910 Cafe), 11am to 3pm

Join us at Cal State University, Dominguez Hills to hear Barbara Schultz, who wrote a book about Pancho Barnes titled Pancho, talk about Pancho Barnes, who was the first woman stunt pilot in Hollywood and a rival of Amelia Earhart’s. A small exhibit of Pancho Barnes artifacts will accompany her talk.

Following Barbara’s talk, the documentary The Legend of Pancho Barnes, a film by Nick Spark and Amanda Pope will be shown. The documentary is 64 minutes long and Nick, a producer and writer of the film, will be on hand for a Q&A after the film. What is very exciting is this is the extended, uncensored version of the film. Many have seen the film on PBS, however this is rare opportunity to see the entire film uncensored. The documentary chronicles the thrilling life and extraordinary times of aviation pioneer Florence Lowe “Pancho” Barnes, one of the most colorful and accomplished women pilots of the earliest 20th century, and an ill-behaved woman who made history.
