Catalina Jazz Dance Festival

A dance festival featuring Joel Plys, Richard Powers and a host of dance instructors for day-time classes. Evening themed dances representing the different eras, with live authentic music, all in one of the most beautiful ballrooms in the country.

Celebrating the Swing Era (1935-1946)--Remembering where modern dancing came from as well as where it has gone.

1900s-1920s: Cakewalk / Texas Tommy / One Step/Peabody / Black Bottom / Tap / Charleston.

1930s-1940s: Lindy Hop / Lindy Charleston / Jitterbug / Shag / Balboa / Blues / Jazz Movement / Big Apple

1950s-2000s: Madison, Monkey, Stroll, Twist, Watusi / Soul / Disco / Hip Hop
