Come celebrate the joy of dancing with a community dance party!

Renée Camus, in conjunction with the California Dance Co-Operative, is thrilled to present a new series of First Friday Dance Parties!

Join us on the First Friday of every month for a mix of different dance styles, from group contras and English country dances, to couple turning and social dances from the Victorian, Ragtime, and 20th-century eras, such as waltz, tango, one-step, swing, polka, and schottische. By offering a variety of dance styles rather than focusing on only one, these parties hope to bring together dancers from different communities while promoting a general love of movement.

A Dance Potpourri, if you will!

The evening starts with a half-hour dance lesson, taught by dance mistress Renée Camus, from 7:30 to 8 pm (we'll learn a different style of dance each month). Renée will also call the dances and offer brief introductory lessons as needed throughout the evening.

No partner or experience needed.

From time to time the dance will take on a special theme or celebration, perhaps to tie into the month (e.g.: Valentine’s Day, Halloween, Winter Solstice), or present a special dance event, such as a speakeasy or cabaret.

Join us on Friday September 1, 2017, starting at 7:30 p.m., at the South Pasadena War Memorial Hall. 435 Fair Oaks Avenue, South Pasadena, California.

The September 1 lesson will be a beginner workshop in the basic turning waltz.

General admission is $12; Students $8. Light refreshments will be provided.

Like all Cal Dance Co-Op dances, we will have LIVE MUSIC! Our band for September 1 is Bob Altman and Friends!
