Colonial Dance featuring featuring the social dances that were popular in this country from 1730 to 1799. Our program will consist primarily of longways "country" dances as well as a few cotillions (the predecessor of quadrilles). With dances of various skill levels throughout the evening, there is sure to be something for beginners and experienced dancers alike.

Beginner-friendly / Bringing a partner is not required / Historical attire is optional

FREE: On the first Saturday of January, the Montebello Historical Society invites you to their Commemoration of the Battle of Rio San Gabriel which took place in early January 1847 (prior to the Capitulation at Campo de Cahuenga); there will be a reenactment of this local encounter fought in California during the Mexican American War, also, live fandango music and dancing which recreates an important part of Early California life, plus presentations by historic figures.
SITE: Juan Matias Sanchez Adobe, 946 N. Adobe Avenue,Montebello, CA 90640. Plentiful street parking.

Sweden's Queen of Swing GUNHILD CARLING the amazingly talented Swedish jazz musician and multi instrumentalist is famous for playing three trumpets at the same time!

Gunhild excels at trombone, trumpet, and even bagpipes. She often showcases her talents in one song, even breaking into a tap dance and singing the roof off!

She's featured in Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox version of 'Never Going to Give You Up' and a 1920's jazz swing version of 'Material Girl'.
